(I suppose that's probably reasonably evident given the one-sentence ficlets post thing a few weeks ago but whatever >.>;;)

Not dead just flat on account of state of world/fandom/familial bullshit/more world/more fandom/universe in general ...

I did do the aforementioned picofics for 1character, and I just finished my draft for iddyiddybangbang. Alas spook_me isn't running this year (one of the two remaining things I do/did every year still) but boy howdy do I hear "I am depressed and need to get my shit together", godspeed spooky!mod.

Aside from that, I crufted together the beginnings of a shaky as hell website and put epubs of my novels on there, bite my arse, dogs of AO3 staff; that's not nothing I spose?


Mostly I'm chewing slowly through a depressingly small number of new books coming in, and going steadily backwards in my videogaming and happy to do so -- after Final Fantasy Resonance and Belmont's Curse, I just might be Done[tm] with new releases? Sure feels that way these days ...

Surely there's other things I could comment on but no idea, unless I complained and what's complaining in a DW post going to do? >.>

... And to be perfectly frank? I very nearly didn't, because it took three tries before Firefox could give me more than a "we couldn't find that page" for the DW shop.

And DW has been like this for months now. Pages not loading; replies to posts not loading; comment threads not expanding. Sometimes over and over so much I have to close a post and go back, which is annoying as fuck and also doesn't always work anyway.

I've pivoted from a (clunky, never did get the bugs out) IRC server to setting up a private Discourse server, which looks like it'll offer a lovely package of forums(!), ability to assign private forums(!!), and a perfectly suitable chat function including Markdown and emojis and file uploads, with private chat(!!!).

So when Discord chokes and dies and this place becomes unusable, a backup has been acquired. It's going to cost me more than the IRC server but right this second I do not fucking care. I'll pass a plate if I have to.

This goes right alongside the pantry preparations and whatnot that we've been slowly accumulating when possible for the last ~month, because believe you me the global economic shock is coming. (also fuck the US and may Israel become a crater.)

Aside from all this it's been playing FFVII (although I've fallen half off the trolley there atm), actually enjoying a few mobile games for the moment, and digging into my Alternity sourcebooks and letting the scifi wash over me. And I got some progress on the FF Lindwyrm project.

I'd still like to make a zine at some point. And put another box together. Small steps.

So YSST kicked off this week and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! Not that the episode was good -- all signs pointed to this project looking pretty damn good -- but that it actually left me excited to see what the fuck is happening. Also that it raises Many Questions[tm] if you've been around the block for decades but kicks off in such a way that watching it without having seen YST is fine, which is good.

Nasti being right there is also Good and lol props to Sunrise for keeping her under wraps right up until just as (after?) the first episode aired, lolololol --

Hopefully it can keep up as it began. It's absolutely seriously not taking itself seriously, except when it does, which is everything I could ask for in a start.

Meanwhile in a continued Series Of Sure Coincidences Lolsobwhat, I decided to shell out and get me an omg.lol account the same day Denise started screeching about LJ's imminent demise (and not not~ long after Denise annoyed the fuck out of me wrt Dreamwidth, last month); now the day I activated my account on omg.lol's irc server, Discord is preparing to go public and is filing for a public offering.

Well, a major reason I was interested in omg.lol specifically was its irc (and other similar things), so time to dig around even more and prepare I suppose --

Whether waiting for Neatnik to finish its webhosting plans to go along with omg.lol or finally getting around to Neocities or Nekoweb or something, I need to get on with that. Maybe I can even pull it off before the year is over? Maybe?


I'm gonna take the YSST win, though. Yep.

A few months ago, via family things, I came into some money and was told as long as a certain portion was socked away, it was mine, do what I want with it. Said portion was dutifully socked away, and I've proceeded to spend several months careening around screaming like an opossum that I'm managing to Do It Wrong while making preorders/Kickstarters for books I thought I've have to miss, making a number of donations on a few occasions, tackling the holidays better ...

... finally buying a new vacuum and a bunch of other household/wardrobe necessities >.> ...

And am still sitting on the majority, stressed and anxious because Spending The Money.

Then it came to my attention that Arcade1UP may be defunct and I was egged on by several enablers pulled the trigger on a long wished-for thing that was by no means cheap but. But.

But now I have a 3/4-size assemble-myself Pac-Man cab on the way.

The other games on it will be nice (Galaxian! Galaga!) but it is first and foremost a Pac-Man cab. Sized like it was made for me.

I don't know if the brainweasels will even get me as much as usual, because this is something I have wanted very nearly my entire bloody life.

Got the plague stab yesterday, which went smoothly despite my irrational loathing of all needles -- which is good because everything else about yesterday could go hang, including that psycho fuck upstairs from me that I had to call the cops on (again) literally as I was trying to get out the door for said stab.

Especially that psycho fucker. He could get run over in the road outside my window and I'd fucking cheer at this point.

Discovering I need to fill out extra customs bullshit and install a special app because I need to do it twice and pay ~duty and taxes~ on every fucking thing sent out of the country to the US now -- which ate up almost a half-hour of extra errand nonsense already extended by the Canada Post outlet having downgradedsized and having to stump to a different one to even get a parcel in the mail at all (and these fuckers wonder why Canada Post ~isn't making money boohoo~ never mind a fucking federal service is a fucking service and shouldn't be after profit to begin with) did nothing to improve yesterday either.


Booster stab side-effects seem to mostly be headache this time around, which admittedly is probably~ also being aggravated by other things (annoying universe, weather temp plummeting like a stone, bleeding like a stuck pig, etc). Hopefully it'll wander off soon; I've had a pretty decent track record there so far.

Goat has not yet burned.

Netflix has bought Warner Bros and as if I wasn't making enough frustrated Legion noises this week ... but at least it wasn't Paramount, I can say that much.

I thiiiiiink I've reached the end of Things That Have Deadlines And Needed Done and lord fuck I hope so. I just want to grumble about late-running holiday events in peace for the next few weeks.

Carved In Stone finally is a thing though (three years after expected date), so I have something to read at work this weekend that isn't the usual sources of nerdy stress ...

Since I crawled back from the Familial Visit[tm] Tues past I have

- worked 5/6 shifts in a row, last one tonight (49 hrs so far)
- suffered through a contractor arriving turbo-late Wed to work on the bathroom ceiling when I desperately needed sleep
- declared further war on ants
- suffered through a contractor arriving Fri morning to finish the bathroom ceiling
- scraped all the badly-done and terrible caulking off the bathtub and redid it myself
- also at various points caulked a badly placed wall socket plate, half the kitchen countertops, and every part of the tub fixtures
- mad scramble to write picofictions down below; was supposed to have been completed during Familial Visit[tm] but ahahahaha sob
- survived a staff party roaring at worksite (I was not part of the party)
- had the power go out for a few hours because a fuckwit knocked down a power pole when I only had just shy of 4 hrs between work ending and me needing to sleep (6 hrs) before more work at least I'd just finished cooking
- had Bad Adventures in bookbinding that has previously worked out fine which tells me that this has been entirely too much

So life the universe and everything continues to be a never-ending rollercoaster (complete with my being kidnapped on a Familial Visit[tm] for a week which ended on Tues) and it's turned my brain into a sucking void as far as Doing Stuff has been concerned; but a few things have trundled around in the last [x]/few weeks and caught my attention ...

- As noted in this post I have finally, finally located a scan (I would take anything) of Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood's Tutankhamun's Wardrobe and yes over two weeks later I could still die of fucking joy. When I get my shit together I need to photoedit the scanned spreads into individual pages, reassemble, and print+stab that fucker. Yessss.

- Scant days before that Hasbro's so-called "Binder Of Revelations" for Transformers leaked (an "updated" version with some 2015 stuff imped in, imo extremely clumsily) and you bet your fucking arse I hit that download button like the fist of an angry god. It's the damn principle of the thing and also I want to mine it for stuff to fodder into the gloriously left-of-everything stream that is the TTRPG continuity for Transformers.

- I have realized in the last few days that very very soon it will be the 10th fucking anniversary of Voltron Legendary Defender airing. Which is another way of saying that very very soon it will be the 10th fucking anniversary of watching one of my oldest fandoms get staked through the heart, functionally out there in the universe and (much worse for me) right in my own mind and innards. Someday I will manage to reclaim my own back; but if the shitfire LD-heavy rpg Catalyst Kickstarted is any indication that taint is going to linger a long, loooong time.

- Honestly so much Saint Seiya of a zillion stripes and flavours is flying at me right now I'm not sure what to comment on lolsob

- January will be when Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers starts airing and I wish to fuck I had any idea yet where or how I'll be able to find it and if it'll be simulcast (or officially localized at all) etc etc *lolsob*
